Meet Drew McLellan
Prior to joining edgeofmyseat.com as a Director, Drew earned his stripes leading technical teams in a number of creative agencies. Drew’s experience of developing for the web spans more than a decade, working on projects for the likes of Nissan, Goodyear Dunlop, Siemens/Bosch, Cadburys, BP, ICI Dulux and Virgin.net as well as developing a number of innovative independent software products. Most recently, Drew has worked as a Web Developer for Search Innovation at Yahoo!.
Standards and Emerging Technology
Drew stood as Group Lead of The Web Standards Project, a grass-roots organisation encouraging better support for web standards in browsers and authoring tools, from 2006 to 2008. WaSP also advocates the adoption of standards amongst web professionals and amateurs alike.
As a proponent of microformats, Drew is the developer of tools such as hKit – a PHP parsing library, and the microformats Dreamweaver Extension suite. Drew helps out at microformats.org as a community admin, as well as frequently presenting on the subject at conferences and summits.
In Writing
Drew has had technical articles published by A List Apart, Adobe and O’Reilly Publishing’s XML.com, as well as contributing, as an author or technical editor, to a number of books. In 2002 Drew published his first title as sole author – an experience he hopes to repeat.
Preferring the web as his primary publishing medium, Drew maintains a personal site at allinthehead.com. Once a year, he calls in all his favours and compiles the advent calendar for web geeks, 24 ways.
